“We ran a good race, organized a
great campaign, but the electorates did not reward our efforts with
superior votes” these were the words of Emmanuel Olawale, who ran
for the position of Common Pleas Judge in Delaware, Ohio State at the
November 4, 2014 United States of America mid-term election as final
results were released.
Olawale who got 10,200 votes to the
33,360 votes of the Judge-elect David Gormley, on his Facebook post,
thanked 'all who stood steadfastly behind me during these past months
of campaigning,' adding that 'I am grateful for your prayers and
support.'
He noted that 'this experience is not
in vain, it is a teachable experience, a springboard to better things
to come.'
The lawyer who was born in Nigeria said in excerpts from the post that, “ I have been receiving very encouraging messages from friends, supporters and loved ones. Thank you all so much. For those wondering about my state of mind, be rest assured, I do not feel defeated, I am not sad and I am not hurting. But, I am disappointed that the result was inversely proportional to our efforts.
The campaign was like a jury trial, where you present all the best evidence, tried the case perfectly, but the jury decide to rule against you anyway. It is like a test where you answered all the questions correctly, but the examiner decides to fail you regardless. I and my team put our best efforts forward and left no stone unturned, but the only thing we couldn't control is the outcome.
In spite of the result, I am grateful for the opportunity to have won this big, to have gained your support and confidence. I know God has bigger and better plans for me because all things work together for good for those who trust in the Lord.
I am honored to have valiantly competed
in the arena that had never had someone of my race as a competitor. I
am honored to have been blessed to make such a history, to have
recorded the highest number of votes for a write in candidate in the
history of the county.
I am honored to have the support of over 10,000 voters who believe in me in spite of my name and pedigree.
I am honored to have the support of over 10,000 voters who believe in me in spite of my name and pedigree.
I am favored to have recorded my name in the annals of history of the United States, though I was not born here. God has favored me and my family beyond the generations before me, so I am grateful.
Thanks to my wonderful team who executed the best campaign in Delaware county, Jummy Lawanson Olawale, Diane Hazelip-Harrison, Karl W Harrison, Bukola Olaoye, Omo Lee, Ayo Adelusola, Ryan D Kuhn, Oye Olatoye, Tera Brown, Debbie Reichert, Ed Helvey, Fatima Addo, Montana Dazzle Shock, Yinka Fawole.
Special thanks to all the prayer warriors, and everyone that donated to my historic campaign. Don't be discouraged, we did not fail, we just went through basic training to prepare us for bigger and better things.
God bless you all.”
